Accessories can make all the difference to an outfit, as most women know. Winter 2011 sees everything for handbags to scarves, gloves to hats making a big difference to plain ensembles and neutral colours.
If you’re a little wary of colour and don’t fancy wearing a bold coat in bright yellow, teamed with purple leggings, try a neutral camel coat and a brightly coloured scarf and hat for an up to date and warm winter look. Gloves can be anything from fingerless to alpine style and range from stylish leather to fun animal print for that funky touch. Fingerless are a little more practical as you don’t have to expose your whole hand to the freezing wind when rummaging for something and some styles have little ‘hoods’ attached that you can pop over fingerless parts, for the best of both worlds.
Longer elbow length gloves have always been seen as a symbol of elegance and this has been brought into the 2011 trends by making them leather, and integrating them into casual outfits as well. The length means that they will keep that wind out where it belongs although they may be slighty impractical when shopping!
Jewellery is a great way to update an outfit, and 2011 offers a range of chunky, colourful items to suit everyone’s taste. From long necklaces to rings and beaded bracelets, anything seems to go and you’ll find them in the season’s colours at reasonable prices. Armour style cuffs will add some fun detail to a rock chick look and maxi necklaces are great for adding a bit of interest to a plain neckline.
